PENTAX K-1
OVERVIEW
The K-1 is the first full frame DSLR made by Pentax, it has a 36.4MP sensor and is
the first full frame, DSLR camera to offer 5 axis image stabilization.
SENSOR
The full frame sensor is a 36.4MP, CMOS with no anti-aliasing filter although it
does have a simulated AA filter which vibrates the sensor to avoid moiré. The built-in
image stabilization moves the sensor to steady images and is rated to 5 stops. The
moveable sensor also allows for Horizon Correction and has what Pentax call an Astrotracer
system that will cancel out the Earth’s rotation when photographing stars.
CAMERA BODY
The Pentax K-1 body is on the large end of DSLR sizes and is fully weather sealed.
A large dial on the top of the camera works in conjunction with the command dial
for altering ISO, Bracketing, EV and various other functions.
On the back there is a 3.2” cross tilt screen that extends away from the body allowing
flexible movement. The K-1 has a 100% viewfinder with 0.7x magnification.
There are dual SD card slots and WiFi and GPS connectivity.
AUTO FOCUS
Auto focus on the K-1 offers a 33 focus point AF system, with 25 of them being cross
type. Working with the cameras metering in continuous AF the K-1 will automatically
select the correct focus point to track a moving subject.
