NIKON Z50
Nikon has launched the latest camera in its Z series, the Z50. Following the success
of the full frame, mirrorless Z6 and Z7 last year the Z50 shares many of the same
features.
Body wise the Z50 looks similar to the Z6 and 7 but in a smaller, lighter form factor.
As the name suggests the Z50 has Nikons new Z lens mount they do offer a, F to Z
adaptor that allows the use of many F mount lenses.
Sensor
The Z50 has a 20.9 megapixel, APSC size sensor which is coupled with the latest EXPEED
6 processor.
ISO RANGE
ISO range is ISO 100-51200 (same as on the Z6)
SHUTTER SPEED
The maximum shutter speed on the Z50 is 1/4000th of a second and it will shoot at
11 frames per second.
AUTOFOCUS
Autofocus offers 209 AF points that are both phase and contrast detection. The Z50
also has ‘eye tracking’ AF that will keep focus and track a subjects eyes.
TOUCHSCREEN
On the rear is a 3.2” tilting, touchscreen. The screen will also fold out below the
camera body for selfie views, although this will make vlogging difficult if the camera
is mounted on a tripod.
IMAGE STABILISATION
There is no built in I.S. on the Z50 but a number of the Z mount lenses do offer
image stabilisation.
VIDEO
Video wise the Z50 will shoot 4k at up to 30fps and 1080p at up to 120fps for super
slow motion.
CARD SLOTS
As with the Z6 and Z7 the Z50 has a single card slot this time it is for an SD card
not the XQD/CF express.
PRICE
The Z50 will be £849 in the UK and $856.95 in the U.S. It is available now for pre
order and will be in shops sometime in November.
